Plain Catgut Suture

Catgut sutures are natural absorbable surgical threads consisting of purified collagen, usually obtained from bovine or sheep intestines. They are widely used in general surgery, gynecology, dental, and veterinary applications.

This is a fast absorbing gut suture and ideal for fast-healing tissues. It typically holds tensile strength for 7–10 days, and full absorption occurs in about 70 days. It’s the preferred choice for oral, skin, and gynecological procedures that do not require rapid support.
